As the citizens of LaGrange get further into 2022, adults and children return to work and school from the holidays. This weekend a few businesses and organizations are hosting events for citizens hoping to get out of the house after all their Christmas and New Year decorations are cleaned up.
Pretty Good Books will host an event for Mike Jones, a local author, who wrote “When I was Small,” a children’s book featuring a farm and a ram. Joshua Rigsby, the bookstore’s owner, said the event will be fun for everyone in the family and children can expect a coloring book if they attend.
“He’s actually a livestock auctioneer, and he’s written this book about a ram when it’s young and kind of how it grows up on the farm. It’s for children,” Rigsby said. “He’s got a kids’ book and then a coloring book to accompany it. We’re just going to have him down and have a reading for the book. He’s going to talk about the inspiration for it.”
For residents hoping to quench their love for live music, the Eley Road Band returns to BrickHouse this Saturday from 9 p.m. to midnight. Hollie Hajec, the general manager of the restaurant, said it is always a blast when Chris Wheelus and his band return for a live show.
“They’ve frequented here very often. They’re one of our more popular bands. They play country and a little bit of alternative rock,” Hajec said. “Chris Willis is the head singer, and he is very entertaining when he is here. He has a lively crowd.”
Affair to Remember will host its Prom Kickoff Party on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The first 25 girls will be given a goodie bag and appointments can be made online or by calling the store. Allison Felton, a sales associate for Affair to Remember, said it will give girls a preview of some possible dresses for their proms this year.
“We are doing a little prom party type trunk show. All that is we have these dresses that are here for about a week, and they’re kind of limited edition,” Felton said. “First 25 girls that come in, prom girls, get a free little goodie bag. It’s a whole huge thing and there’ll be little fun things to do here and there.”
