WAYNESVILLE — The time has come. The Haywood County Friends of the Library Bookstore is officially open starting Wednesday, Oct. 27, from 1-4 p.m. The Friends are set to have a grand opening celebration Saturday, Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“I am extremely grateful to all the volunteers who have worked many hours over the past several months to get the store ready to open. Friends of the Library is very excited about the future. We appreciate the many individuals who have signed up to work at the store, and we look forward to providing books to the community while raising funds to support library programming in Haywood County,” said Tess Thais, president of Haywood County Friends of the Library.
The event will feature face painting and free treat bags. Kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.
Going forward, the bookstore will be open three days a week: Wednesday and Friday, from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Proceeds from the store will go directly to the Haywood County Library in support of library programs and special needs.
Donations of books will be accepted at the store during normal operating hours. Please limit donations to two or three bags or boxes of books per person each week, and ensure that books are dust and mold free.
Email [email protected] with any questions about donations.
The store is located at 101 W. Marshall St., Waynesville.
