The Friends of A.K. Smiley Public Library will hold a sale in the library Assembly Room Friday, Oct. 22, through Sunday, Oct, 24.
Hours are 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Oct. 22 and 23 and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Oct. 24.
The sale will feature more than 3,000 items, including children’s books and books on art, animals, cooking, crafts, hobbies, Hollywood, home, science, writing and history, including biographies and California history. There will also be coffee table books, fiction and mystery novels, plus DVDs, CDs and a few vinyl records.
Prices on Friday and Saturday are $2 for hardbacks and children’s books, $1 for paperbacks, DVDs and CDs. Vinyl records will be individually priced.
There will be a close-out bag sale Sunday, when Friends of the Library may fill a bag for $5 and nonmembers pay $8 to fill a bag.
“Our sales events are made possible by the generous donations of the community. Proceeds from the sales and our bookstore enable the Friends to help fund new books and programs like the Summer Reading Program and Adult Literacy,” Rebecca McCurdy, president of the Friends of A.K. Smiley Public Library, said in a news release.
Another way to support the work of the Friends of the Library is to become a member, and membership forms will be available at the sale. Individual memberships are $10 per year, and family memberships are $25. Members receive a number of discounts and benefits, including early access to the monthly bag sales at the Friends of the Library bookstore on the lower level of the library.
The A.K. Smiley Public Library is at 125 W. Vine St., Redlands.
