Children from kindergarten through fifth grade, and their families, are invited to the A.K. Smiley Public Library’s 18th annual Family Day, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 9.
The outdoor event, featuring take-home crafts, read-alouds and free books, will also celebrate the 101st birthday of the library’s Young Readers’ Room. Booths will be set up in Smiley Park, between the entrance to the library’s Young Readers’ Room and the Lincoln Memorial Shrine.
This year’s guest of honor is local author and illustrator Diane Adams, who will sign copies of her books.
The first 200 families at the event will receive a free hardcover book, and every child in kindergarten through fifth grade will receive a free paperback book, according to a news release.
The A.K. Smiley Public Library is at 125 W. Vine St., Redlands. For information, go to akspl.org or call 909-798-7565.
