First Friday Book Signing- Captain Al Foreman…

By Submitted Story on September 26, 2021
This Friday is October 1 which means it is First Friday in Downtown Manteo and included is an exciting book-signing you won’t want to miss! Elizabeth City resident, and retired school librarian, Blair Jackson will be at Downtown Books from 5pm -7pm signing copies of her brand-new children’s book Captain Al and Big Blue.
Now, you may be asking- Captain Al? as in Captain Al Foreman? YES! Blair is Al’s sister and has written this beautiful book as a tribute to her legendary brother, his charter boat Country Girl and the legacy of off-shore fishing on the Outer Banks of which he played a big role. Follow the gorgeous watercolor illustrations of artist Mary Edwards as a little boy joins his grandfather aboard his boat for a day spent fishing in the Gulf stream.
Packed with facts, fun and a few surprises- we just LOVE Captain Al and Big Blue and predict it will be one of our best-selling holiday titles as every parent and grandparent is going to want to put this book under the tree. Come meet Blair, help us celebrate her new book and get a signed copy (or several!) on Friday, October 1. Downtown Books is located at 103 Sir Walter Raleigh Street in beautiful downtown Manteo.
First Friday is a fun, free family friendly event featuring live music throughout town, art show openings, book signings, trunk shows, restaurant specials, later shop hours and more. For more information on Blair’s signing or to reserve a book, call 252-473-1056 or visit duckscottage.com. Downtown Books is a very independent bookstore serving the entire Outer Banks, twice voted Best Bookstore on the Beach.
